With a total of eleven podium finishes thus far, Fowler was able to secure his second National Championship just three weeks ago at the Polaris Ace Powerline Park GNCC in St. Clairsville, Ohio. As the season comes to a close, the racing intensity remains at an all-time high. McGill comes into this round fresh off his overall win in Ohio and will look to carry that momentum to capture the last remaining victory of 2016.

This weekend will mark exactly two years since six-time GNCC champion and Maxxis/Fly Racing/HMF/Ye Olde Cycle Barn/Suzuki’s Chris Borich has landed on the top spot of the box. In Ohio, race fans were treated to an epic showdown between McGill, Fowler and Borich where the trio crossed the finish line within seconds of each other. With only one race remaining this could serve as the perfect opportunity for Borich to challenge not only his competitors, but also himself, as he strives to change his results and return to his winning ways.

After a disappointing last round, Coastal Racing/MSR/Maxxis-backed Brycen Neal will be looking for redemption this weekend. The Ohio native has shown great promise when it comes to taking his first career professional win, but has been unsuccessful thus far. With only one round remaining Neal will be a man on a mission beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday. 

As the 2016 season comes to a close so does the rookie year for N-Fab/Maxxis/AmPro Yamaha/Lonestar/MXP’s Cole Richardson. Richardson has dealt with an up-and-down season, but hopes to cap off his first year in the XC1 Pro class with his third podium finish, or possibly even his first career professional victory. 

JMR/ATVriders.com/DWT’s Jarrod McClure is known for his strong showing at previous Ironman GNCC events where he scored a podium finish in 2015. Now, one year later, McClure is eager to stand in the middle of the box at the conclusion of the two-hour race. McClure’s diligent racing strategies will be something to keep an eye on this Saturday. 

Goldspeed/Hygear Suspension/Waynesburg Yamaha/Moto-Xperts/Spider Graphix’s Greg Covert hopes not only to add another win to his resume, but to also claim his first-ever XC2 Pro-Am class championship. Class veteran and Dillinger's Celtic Pub & Eatery/GBC Motorsports/Moose Racing’s Marty Christofferson has put in equally impressive results and sits in second. ITP/Ye Olde Cycle Barn/Walsh Racecraft’s Westley Wolfe has also played a consistent role in the podium results, and will look to repeat his success at the last round with his fourth win. 

Another battle that comes down to the last round is the UTV National Championship. Class rookie and Can-Am/DWT/Houser Racing/Elka Suspension/HMF’s Cody Miller leads the championship chase, but defending champion Kyle Chaney sits within striking distance with his Can-Am/Chaney Racing/CT Race Worx/Maxxis/Fox Shocks-backed machine. Miller has yet to finish off the podium, while Chaney has faced some difficulties earlier this season. Only 26 points separate the top two contenders heading into the final round. Whatever the circumstances may be, the title will be awarded after the conclusion of the one-hour race. 

Cunningham Racing/Can-Am/Spider Graphix/Gold Speed’s Kevin Cunningham heads into his hometown race as the 2016 4x4 ATV Pro National Champion. With the national title in hand, Cunningham is sure to be a top competitor for the class win, as he goes up against Can-Am/DWT/Houser Racing/Elka Suspension/HMF’s Cody Miller who comes into this round with a two-race winning streak. Can-Am/QuadBoss-backed Bryan Buckhannon and UXC Racing teammates Michael Swift and Kevin Trantham will also be contesting for the 4x4 Pro win at the season finale this Saturday.

The WXC class remains anything but predictable where Honda-mounted Angel Knox was able to claim her first victory of the season at the last round, but Knox’s quest to earn two-in-a-row may prove difficult where Alicia McCormick will be looking to cap off her 2016 National Championship season with another victory. 

Saturday’s race schedule is as follows: Youth ATV racing begins at 8 a.m., Single-Seat UTV racing at 9 a.m., followed by 4x4 Pro, amateurs and women at 10 a.m., and the pros and top amateurs race at 1 p.m. Following Saturday’s afternoon race will be Side-by-Side UTV racing taking place at 4:00 p.m. 

Adult (12+) gate admission is $20 for the full weekend and $10 for kids (6-11), with kids five and under free. Gate admission includes pro pit access, autographs and evening activities at no additional charge. Trick-or-treating will kick off the Saturday night festivities at 5 p.m., with a costume contest and Parts Unlimited hospitality dinner at 6 p.m. Stone Senate will take the stage at 7 p.m. with the popular Davisson Brothers following. 

GNCC Racing encourages spectators to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness by dressing in pink all weekend long. The race facility will be adorned in pink, including a pink-themed podium backdrop, t-shirts and much more. Stuk MX will also sell exclusive GNCC breast cancer awareness themed stickers at their display for a minimum $1 donation, with contributions going to the Montgomery County Free Clinic (MCFC), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free mammogram examinations to the Crawfordsville and Montgomery County region. 

This weekend is co-sanctioned with IXCR, a series that produces local racing events in Indiana, and will ultimately bring out a full slate of local racers. All local racers are invited to compete at the Ironman GNCC, as GNCC Racing offers classes for riders of all skill and experience levels.
