Walker Fowler Leads the Way into 10th Annual AMSOIL Snowshoe GNCC
Borich and Neal Aiming for First Overall Win of the Season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va (June 22, 2016) – The world’s fastest off-road ATV races will take to Snowshoe Mountain this Saturday, June 25, for the 10th Annual AMSOIL Snowshoe GNCC. Modeled after the famed Blackwater 100 race, the Snowshoe GNCC in West Virginia is known for being one of the most challenging races on the entire 13-round circuit and serves as the ninth round of the 2016 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship. N-Fab/Maxxis/AmPro Yamaha/Lonestar/MXP’s Walker Fowler is no stranger to the rough and rugged conditions that will be present this weekend and will aim to extend his points lead at the conclusion of the two-hour race on Saturday.

Fowler currently leads the way in the National Championship standings with a 28-point gap on the rest of the XC1 Pro field. With five wins behind him and never finishing outside of the top-five, Fowler’s consistently has proven to play a major role in his success. However, anything is possible in GNCC Racing and that remains true as the series moves to Snowshoe.

“I made my plan at the beginning of the season that I wanted to have a big enough points lead to be able to DNF at Snowshoe and still be winning,” said Fowler. “The track is unpredictable, I’ve won there and I’ve also done one lap. I’m just going to go there and have fun and take the most points out of it we can get. I’m always really strong at the last four races so we’re sitting in a really good position to defend this championship.”

One racer who will be eager to end Fowler’s success is CST/LSR/Induction Solutions/DeRisi/SG/Tire Blocks’ Adam McGill. McGill set his eyes on earning a National Championship years ago and much like Fowler, he has not finished outside of the top-five thus far in the season. The West Virginia native will also be competing on his home turf and hopes to utilize that as an advantage as he looks to earn his fourth win of the season.

The six-time GNCC champion and Maxxis/Fly Racing/HMF/Ye Olde Cycle Barn/Suzuki’s Chris Borich recently secured the third place position in the series points standings. As the season has reached its halfway point, Borich has slowly adjusted to his new ride. Perhaps, this round will serve as a turning point and he will be able to earn his first win of the season aboard his Suzuki machine.

Coastal Racing/MSR/Maxxis-backed Brycen Neal has had a stand-out season and sits only five points behind Borich in fourth. Neal has been in contention for an overall win at multiple races this season, but has just fallen short. The Ohio native will be looking to earn his first career overall win this Saturday.

After finishing just off the podium in New York, N-Fab/Maxxis/AmPro Yamaha/Lonestar/MXP’s Cole Richardson will be charging hard as he attempts to secure his first pro overall podium. The XC1 Pro rookie has yet to make a podium appearance but took home the 2015 Snowshoe XC2 Pro-Am victory last year and will look to use that as momentum.

JMR/ATVriders.com/DWT’s Jarrod McClure took home his first ever GNCC overall win at last year’s Snowshoe GNCC. McClure has a solid string of top-five finishes behind him, but also has his fair share of issues this year. He will aim to change that this weekend as he will have his eyes set on the middle spot on the box as he looks to repeat his success in 2015.

After suffering from a broken frame in New York, Show Hauler/Canyon Motorsports/GBC’s Landon Wolfe will be looking for redemption this weekend as he attempts to secure his first overall podium of the year.

BNR/Moose Racing/Maxxis’ Josh Merritt and Precision/Axis/Maxxis-backed Jay Shadron round out the top ten heading into the Snowshoe GNCC. Both Merritt and Shadron have found success this season, and will look to put it all together to earn their first top-five finish of the year.

Since the first round in Florida, Hygear Suspension/Waynesburg Yamaha/FLY Racing/Moto-Xperts/Spider Graphix’s Greg Covert has maintained control of the points lead in the XC2 Pro-Am division. However, his competition remains stiff and many racers have emerged victorious this season, meaning that that the XC2 Pro-Am class win this weekend is anyone’s to take. ITP/Ye Olde Cycle Barn/Walsh Racecraft’s Westley Wolfe and Dillinger's Celtic Pub & Eatery/GBC Motorsports/Moose Racing’s Marty Christofferson hold the second and third place positions. Christofferson will be a man-on-a-mission as he looks to repeat his win just two weeks ago in New York.

“I just need to keep the momentum going so we can catch back up in points,” said Chistofferson. “I’ve always done okay at Snowshoe but actually never made it on the podium. I’ve always had a little bit of bad luck that keeps me back, but I’m going to change that this year.”
