Team UXC Race Report: Big Buck GNCC

Thursday, April 21, 2016 | 9:50 AM

Dry and dusty seemed to be the theme for Round 4 of the GNCC race this past weekend at the Big Buck Farm in Union, South Carolina. The track was flat and fast which allowed racers to open up their machines to maximum speeds creating a dusty scene.

Kicking up a lot of dust this weekend was Team UXC/Polaris Factory Racers Kevin Trantham (#209) and Michael Swift (#202) in the Pro 4x4 Class on their Polaris Scrambler 1000XPs. The duo started off the front line mid pack and fought hard to work their way up to the front. With the dust so thick, visibility was almost zero at times.

Trantham and Swift battled to the very end coming across the finish line bumper to bumper. Trantham claimed a second place finish, while Swift took home third. “I am very proud that Kevin and I were on the podium together today. It was a hard fought battle and consistency is key for a long race season. Our Scott goggles were a critical factor in being able to see during the race today. A big thanks to all of our amazing sponsors,” stated Swift.

Swift and Trantham also piloted their Polaris RZR UTV’s in the XC1 Pro class on Saturday afternoon. Trantham claimed a 7th place finish in his Polaris RZR. Swift encountered a problem on the last lap dropping him back to 15th place out of 30.

4x4 C rider Nic Snyckers and 4x4 Senior 40+ rider, Graham Widdicombe both had impressive podium finishes for this round. Snyckers claimed a 1st place finish while Widdicombe took third. Jeff Wright is continuing to build momentum going into the 4th round. He finished 10th in his class.

ACE action was back this round with two Team UXC piloted machines on the track. Torey Rush lead the majority of the one hour long race but encountered a problem at the start of the last lap causing him to slip from 1st. Becky Widdicombe dropped from 4th to 6th after a mishap in the last couple of turns.
