Fowler and McGill Go Head-to-Head for GNCC National Championship
This Saturday at Ironman Season Finale
Ironman GNCC Goes Pink in Honor of Breast Cancer Awareness

The 2015 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series (GNCC), presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship, is set for a dramatic conclusion this Saturday, October 31, with the AMSOIL Ironman GNCC in Crawfordsville, Indiana. With the 2015 ATV XC1 National Championship still undecided it will be a “winner-take-all” affair with only two hours of racing remaining this season.

Ironman Raceway celebrates 21 years of GNCC Racing this year and there is much hype and anticipation surrounding the event and nighttime activities. Additionally, the GNCC finale will once again support October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month in a festive way by encouraging racers and spectators to deck themselves out in pink attire for the event. While the atmosphere at Ironman is traditionally light-hearted and cheerful, tension may be flying high in the pro pits as the XC1 championship will ultimately be decided on Saturday. Even though there is a small gap between first and second, the current points leader Walker Fowler and West Virginia’s Adam McGill will race head-to-head for the coveted overall National Championship.

N-Fab/AmPro Yamaha/Maxxis/Lonestar’s Fowler will attempt to secure his first National title at the season finale, but first he will have to make sure to stay ahead of CST/PirateMX.com/LSR/DeRisi/Tireblocks/SG-backed Adam McGill who has put up a hard fight throughout the season. Although McGill currently sits 19 points behind Fowler in the championship standings, anything can happen during the final race this weekend.

“I can’t be more thrilled to head into the last race with a little bit of a cushion, I may not have to win, but I just need to make sure I finish in the top 10 in order to claim the championship,” said Fowler.

Coming off yet another solid top five finish at the last round, JMR/ATVRiders.com’s Jarrod McClure sits third in the championship standings as the series winds down this weekend in Indiana. McClure has been solid all season with six podium finishes through the first 12 rounds. Although the National Championship may be out of sight for McClure, the Pennsylvania native emerged victorious with a big win at Snowshoe, making it his first ever overall ATV win, and that boost of confidence could help carry McClure to the center of the podium once more this season.

Defending National champion and Team Maxxis-backed Chris Borich has put on a hard charge during the second half of the season, where he now sits fourth in the championship standings, followed by Maxxis/B. Neal Motorsports’ Brycen Neal in fifth. If Neal can hold onto his current fifth place standing it will award the Ohio native with a career-best ranking for 2016.

Bithell Racing/Maxxis/Precision’s Chris Bithell heads into the season finale hoping to put his bad luck behind him and add another victory to his previous overall earlier this season at Indiana’s Limestone 100. The Pennsylvania native sits seventh in the points championship, and is followed by Coastal/Waynesburg Yamaha’s Jay Shadron in eighth. Fasttrax/Wolf Racing’s Brian Wolf holds the ninth place in the points championship, and GBC Yamaha HMF’s Johnny Gallagher rounds out the top ten.

N-Fab/AmPro Yamaha/Maxxis/Lonestar’s Cole Richardson made his XC1 Pro debut at the previous round after clinching the XC2 Pro Am Championship two rounds early. However, he was plagued with bad luck and mechanical issues throughout the race and ended up finishing 18th overall. Richardson heads into the season finale hoping to make a lasting impression before his first full XC1 Pro season in 2016.

Dillinger's Celtic Pub/Hygear Suspension/Moose/GBC-backed Marty Christofferson capitalized on Richardson’s absence taking home his first XC2 Pro Am class win of the season. Christofferson currently holds a steady second place in the XC2 points chase, but is followed by RYCO Racing’s Cody Collier who sits in the third place position. Both Christofferson and Collier will be charging hard this weekend to claim the top position on the box for the last time this season. JMR/ATVRiders.com’s Randy Hamilton sits fourth in the championship standings, followed by Pennsylvania’s Thomas Koontz Jr. in fifth.

“Ironman was my first XC2 Pro Am race so it definitely holds some special memories and last year I finished on the podium,” reported Christofferson. “Even though it’s a long drive for us it is a fun and cool facility to go to.”

With another battle until the end, the 4x4 Pro class championship will be decided this weekend at Ironman as Can-Am rider Bryan Buckhannon looks to fend of Team UXC Racing/Factory Polaris’ Michael Swift in the final two hours of competition. With a five-point lead over Swift, Buckhannon needs to make sure his race is flawless in order to claim the title and to complete the season while never finishing off the podium. His teammate, Kevin Trantham, holds the third place position in the championship standings.

Side-by-Side racing returns to the GNCC lineup this Saturday at with the final round of the six-race championship. Team Can-Am/Turn-Key UTV/Fox Shocks continues to lead the way in the XC1 Pro class where they look to secure their second Side-by-Side Championship at Ironman Raceway. The competition is stiff in the XC1 Pro class, as veteran teams such as Larry Henderson and Mouse Pratt look to capture the final victory of the season as well.

GNCC Racing encourages spectators to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness by dressing in pink all weekend long. The race facility will be adorned in pink, including a pink-themed podium backdrop, t-shirts and much more. RidePG.com will also sell exclusive GNCC breast cancer themed awareness stickers for a minimum $1 donation, with contributions going to the Montgomery County Free Clinic (MCFC), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free mammogram examinations.
