Kayla Corbett has been at the front of the Women's Amateur class all throughout the 2014 season. With a close battle for the championship, Kayla will be on top of her game coming into the Ironman. We caught up with her to talk about her 2014 season and more.

GNCCRacing.com: How's it going today?
Kayla Corbett: It's going great.

Are you ready to go racing at The Ironman?
Yeah! I'm pumped for the Ironman. Any weekend of racing is a good weekend and it looks like this will be a great one for it too.

So tell everyone a little about yourself.
I'm 23 years old, living in Aiken SC. I work full time as a Radiation Protection Inspector.

How did you get started racing?
I bought a KFX 400 in 2010 and started racing some locals for fun and got hooked. It's definitely a great sport and it really offers up something for everyone.

And what brought you into the GNCC world?
I had been racing local races and definitely enjoyed it, but I ended up wanting more competition and a bigger women's class. So, GNCC was the natural choice for that and I've been having a blast.

So you've had an awesome 2014 season. Tell us how it's been going.
It's been going great! I've had a few mechanical issues but all around it's been really good especially since it's been my first season on a 450.

At the beginning of the season, did you expect to be doing so well?
Honestly, no. I just went out racing for the best finish I could get and realized that they were actually good finishes. (laughs)

How does it feel to be at the front of the class points?
It's feels amazing. I've been trailing by a couple points but hard work has paid off and I've finally been able to work my way into the points lead.

What are your goals for The Ironman?
Of course the goal is to win. I go out there every race with the same mentality that I want to win, have fun, and do the best I can.

Do you have any plans for 2015 yet?
My plan is to move up to the WXC class and see how things go there. There's definitely a lot of tough competition in that class but I think it'll be fun.

What do you hope to accomplish in 2015?
In 2015 I hope to learn a lot from the ladies in WXC and earn a higher national number.

What about beyond 2015? What do you hope to accomplish down the road in racing?
I'm not sure beyond 2015. Eventually I hope to get married to my long-term boyfriend Chuck Norris and race a few for fun.

What's it like dating Chuck Norris? Does he ever have any Walker Texas Ranger flashbacks?
(laughs) I think you've got the wrong Chuck Norris. He gets that a lot.

Alright before we wrap this up, who would you like to thank?
I would like to thank my boyfriend and mechanic Chuck Norris, his family, Spider Graphix, Fly, Ryno Power, Oury, cylinder works, vertex piston, Houser, and my team Stuck Wide Open Racing.
