Round 2 of Micro Racing Showcased at Steele Creek GNCC

Round 3 of the 2014 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series presented by Maxxis, and sanctioned by AMA, showcased the second round of Micro 50cc racing last weekend, taking place at the Steele Creek Campground in Morganton, N.C. Riders from four to nine-years-old had the opportunity to compete against similar machines, skill levels and ages on Saturday afternoon for Round 2 of the 6-round 50cc Micro Series.

On the Micro ATV side, Georgia’s Barrett Cushman (DRR) and West Virginia’s Kaden Lambruno (DRR) currently sit tied for the lead in the 50 Open Sr. (7-11) Class after two rounds of racing. Cushman captured the first victory of the season at the Moose Racing Mud Mucker GNCC, while Lambruno took the win at the FMF Steele Creek GNCC.

Florida’s very own Mika Lonsdale (DRR) sits one point behind the leaders with a second place finish at the first round, while West Virginia’s Will Best (APX) also has a second place finish at the second round in North Carolina. Florida’s Cole Tucker (DRR) rounds out the top three with a third place finish at the opening round in Florida. 

Georgia’s Wyatt Eubanks (DRR) is currently undefeated in the 50 Open Jr. (4-6) Class, with a four-point lead over Tennessee’s Barrett Childers (DRR) in second. Childers has a 2-4 score after the first two rounds of racing. New York’s Serenity Clark (DRR) holds third in the points with a second place finish in North Carolina, while Indiana’s Waylon Witty (DRR) holds fourth with a third place finish. Gabriel Lubas of North Carolina rounds out the top five with a fifth place finish in his home state last round.

On the bike side, North Carolina’s very own Avery Fraley (KTM) took the win in the 50 Sr. (7-9) Class, rounding out the top five in the class standings. Pennsylvania’s Nathan Dulaney (COB) finished second at Round 2, giving him first place in the point standings with 1-2 finishes so far. Ohio’s Exaver Mohney finished third place in the class, with Indiana’s Cole Curtis (KTM) in fourth place and Ohio’s Dawson Edwards rounded out the top five.

Florida’s Dawson Baker (KTM) holds second place in the standings with a 3-6 score, while Pennsylvania’s Logan Carlisle (KTM) sits in third with 2-14 finishes.

Morganton, North Carolina’s very own Colton Shields (KTM) secured the 50 Jr. (4-6) Class win in his home state, while South Carolina’s Andrew Segars came in second. Indiana’s Wyatt Robinson (KTM) put in a solid third place ride, followed by Keihin Rupp (KTM) and Tavin Cook (HON).

Segars holds the points lead after two rounds with a 1-2 score, while Shields sits in second with a score of 2-1. Rupp has a solid 4-4 score for third place in the standings.

Florida’s Jackson Parks won the Casual Trail (7-9) Class aboard his KTM machine.

The six-round 50cc Micro series will return to the 2014 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series on Saturday, April 26, with the Dunlop Limestone 100 GNCC in Springville, Ind. For more information on the series, visit www.gnccracing.com.
