One of the true up and coming names in GNCC Racing is that of Colton White. After landing the Schoolboy A/B championship in 2012, Colton set his sights on the Sport 15+ class for 2013. We caught up with Colton to talk about his 2013 season, and more.

GNCCRacing.com: How’s everything going today?
Colton White: Great. Just been cleaning up from The Mountaineer and getting ready to go on a short vacation to the beach this week. Also been running and riding a lot.

Sounds like fun! So tell everyone a little about yourself.
I’m from Hickory, North Carolina and I go to Fred T Foard high school. I play soccer, mountain bike and enjoy fishing too.

How did you get started racing?
Well, my parents bought me a Polaris Scrambler 50 when I was 3 years old and I rode the wheels off of it! It was an everyday thing, and then my family bought me a Honda 90 when I was 8. I always rode around the pasture at the house but racing was a different story. We watched a few local races and knew that we were going to get into racing soon.

What brought you to GNCC Racing?
My grandpa took me to Steele Creek and Big Buck because they were close and we would watch them every year. Then finally drove out to Georgia to race. My first GNCC race was The General GNCC and I didn't know the checkered flag meant stop, so I kept on going until the track people stopped me and asked me what I was doing , I simply said "I'm racing " (laughs). After that we have missed only 5 races in 6 years.

That’s classic! So, what are some of your accomplishments so far?
In 2008, my first year, I won one GNCC race and two Mid-East races. Then I got an Apex and raced it several years, won 2 two Mid-East championships and several GNCC races with two podiums. In 2011 I raced Schoolboy Novice with five wins and third in points. Then, in 2012 I got my first GNCC championship in Schoolboy A/B.

How did the Schoolboy A/B championship feel?
It was great! It was a goal to win a race, but more like a dream to hold a number one plate. With all the support I had, I couldn't thank them enough and it definitely made me more confident. It makes me think about how some people may never win a championship in a lifetime and to hold a number one plate felt awesome.

You’re doing pretty well so far this season too. Tell us how it’s been going.
Yeah, it’s been pretty good. Sport 15 is a tough class with guys from all ages. It’s a tight points battle. I've had some bad luck the past three races but still hanging in there up front. Had to push it across the line twice this year but recovered from it and still going strong.

What's it going to take to grab another class championship?
It’s definitely going to take a lot of hard work on the quad to keep it together, and staying in shape on my part. I’ve got a good team and we all work together and we’re going to give it all we got. A few more wins and some luck should make it a run for the championship.

What do you hope to accomplish through the rest of this season?
Mostly I'm just going to try to be consistent. More class wins and good overall finishes, and of course a championship. I just got to keep going at it and training and hopefully will end up with a great season in the end.

What are your plans for next season?
I haven't really put much thought into next season, we've been taking it one race at time. We might be racing College B but we will definitely be in the GNCC series somewhere.

What do you hope to accomplish in the future?
It’s always just great to be at the track with your friends and have a good weekend but I want to go as far as I can. I really want to make it through the ranks and have a lot of support behind me on the way. Definitely everybody wants to go pro and I'm willing to put in all the effort to make it that far. Going pro is at the top of the list of my goals.

Alright before we wrap this up, who would you like to thank?
First off, I’d like to thank God for keeping me safe on and off the track. Mostly, my grandpa for working on my quad day and night. The Slightly Bent Racing Team for keeping up the pits. My mom and dad and family for supporting me, Rusty Repass , Marks Off-Road , ROC Tires, Miles family , Icard family, Honda of East Toldedo, Combs Powersports , Webb family, and all the people who are behind me 100%.
